Sainte Foy, the "Jewel in the Crown"of the French Alps, is surrounded by the World famous mega-resorts of Val d'Isere, Tignes, Les Arcsand La Rosiere, close to the Italian border, at a height of 1550 metres. Its stunning location gives breathtaking views of the valley below and the impressive Mount Pourri plus access to over 800 hectares of virgin snow right at your back door!
Despite Sainte Foy's brilliantly affordable lift passes (half the price of those in Val d'Isere and Les Arcs!) and excellent traditional restaurants and bars, the village remains remarkably unspoilt and has preserved its authentic charm and local architecture. In fact Sainte Foy must be one of the least busy resorts you will ever visit. Here you won't encounter lift queues, just friendliness from all those working in the resort who hope that you enjoy the unique ambience as much as they do themselves.
Pistes are beautifully and lovingly prepared and the ridiculously small number of visitors to the resort means that they stay in top condition all day long. The lower slopes offer wonderful sweeping runs through the trees whilst the upper slopes provide the truly breathtaking descents. When you fancy a rest, why not stop off at one of the selection of superb and very reasonable restaurants on the slopes, some converted from original Savoyard shepherds lodgings.
Three chair-lifts take you up to the Col de l’Aiguille and the starting point for 600m vertical of challenging piste and some dramatic powder descents. More lifts are needed to serve the expanded village, but so far planning permission has been refused on environmental grounds. A new chair-lift recently opened from the blue La Chapelle piste, which should create several new easy runs as well as providing additional off-piste possibilities.
You can relax on the balcony at Le Pitchouli for a well deserved apres-ski drink and admire the majestic views, safe in the knowledge that your chalet is less than 200m away...A perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the real world!
Apres-Ski:
Plenty of French charm without the pretentiousness of other larger resorts. Nightlife is limited to the small bars and restaurant s in the resort “square”. This is not a resort for die hard party animals, but is a superb resort for families and keen off-piste powderhounds.
